Torque Converter Size Selection: In most cases using a smaller torque converter will make your car quicker, due to the simple fact of a higher stall speed. There is another reason that you probably didn't think of, a smaller torque converter is lighter, for example a 10-inch converter is about 5 lbs lighter than a 12-inch converter, thus reducing rotating weight and improving your cars response. This is the same principal behind a lighter flywheel in a manual transmission car.

Drag Tech Tip: With a high stall speed torque converter you may see a .5 second reduction in quarter-mile times, if traction permits. Highly modified cars with full-race heads, bigger cams and so on have seen quarter-mile times reduced over 1 second, that isn’t bad for just going with a top notch drag racing converter.
