Forced induction involves mechanical devices which force more air into the cylinders, this greater density of oxygen allows for greater expansion but as the engine block is mostly static, the greater expansion translates into greater force and thus more torque.

Nitrous bottle pressure of 950 psi is recommended for optimum performance. An ambient bottle temperature of approximately 85° F will usually equate to this pressure.

The exhaust gases escaping from the open headers of a Top Fuel dragster produce about 800-1000 pounds of downforce. The massive wing over and behind the rear slicks produces much more downforce, peaking at around 12,000 pounds of downforce when the dragster reaches a speed of about 325 mph or more.
